Pro Keds were established in 1949 by Keds as their athletic line of footwear originally for Basketball. The first shoe from Pro Keds was the classic Royal which is back in the collection today and is a simple canvas shoe featuring the red and blue powerstripe.
Over the years many new styles were added to the collection for various sports including tennis, football and baseball to name a few. Technology moved on with the brand and they added shock absorbing supports and cushioning to their shoes to advance them.
Away from the sports field Pro Keds were picked up by the Hip Hop crowd in New York and all of a sudden they were seen as cool shoes.
